Echelon Authorized Network Integrator Program

Overview

Is your company doing everything it can to remain competitive in the rapidly changing building automation industry? System integrators around the world are leveraging the LonWorks technology platform to give their companies a competitive edge. The LonWorks platform is the only open, interoperable international standard for building automation and controls. It is supported by industry leading suppliers of Building Management Systems (BMS), security, life safety, elevators, lighting and other systems.

Systems integrators prefer to use products based on the LonWorks platform because they gain more control over projects, resulting increased profit. Intelligent buildings involve more than BMS. Savvy integrators are integrating lighting, security and other subsystems into web-based front-ends that consolidate all building functions into a single, simple user interface. End-users love the idea of having simple interfaces for scheduling, alarming, trending, and maintenance that can be accessed locally or remotely. They want to eliminate the proprietary workstations associated with each subsystem in order to reduce training, space and cost.

The building automation industry in the US and Europe has already transitioned from closed single-vendor systems to open, interoperable systems from multiple vendors. The cornerstone of this industry phenomenon involves products certified by the independent LonMark International organization, a global non-profit organization with over 500 members. Over 700 products have been certified by LonMark International as being suitable for integration into open, interoperable systems. Echelon created the Open Systems Alliance (OSA) program several years ago to provide the industry with a pool of qualified system integrators who have a core competency in the specification, installation, and maintenance of open, interoperable systems. While LonMark International creates standards and certification programs, Echelon provides industry with the education, tools, products, and marketing materials required to enable the installation of open systems.

Companies join the OSA program for a number of reasons, including:

The OSA program is targeted at independent integrators who understand the value and importance of delivering open, interoperable solutions. Program membership in no way precludes relationships with other control system product providers. Companies with an acknowledged reputation for providing high quality systems and possessing superior project management skills are encouraged to participate in the program.

Eligibility

Program participants must complete the following steps in order to join the OSA program:

  1. Enter into a channel member agreement with Echelon Corporation.
  2. Purchase a STARTUP package from an Echelon authorized distributor or reseller.
  3. Sponsor one employee in Echelon provided training. The training prepares the student for the design and installation of multi-vendor open systems using the LNS operating system and LonMaker Integration tool.
  4. Retain a minimum of two employees that are LonMark Certified Professionals.
  5. Maintain a technical support capability for the benefit of customers.
