Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Ron Sege has served as a director of the company, President, and Chief Executive Officer since August 2010, and he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since October 2011. Before Echelon, he served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Board member of 3 Com Corporation from 2008 through its acquisition by HP. Earlier, Ron was President and Chief Executive Officer of Tropos Networks, Inc., a provider of wireless broadband networks; President and Chief Executive Officer of Ellacoya Networks, Inc., a provider of broadband service optimization solutions based on deep packet inspection technology, and Executive Vice President of Lycos, Inc., the Internet search engine. From 1989 to 1998, he served in a variety of senior management roles at 3 Com Corporation, including Executive Vice President, Global Systems Business Unit. Ron holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in economics from Pomona College.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Bill Slakey brings more than 20 years of experience improving financial performance and financial operations at public and private technology companies. Before joining Echelon, Bill served as Chief Financial Officer for a number of public and private companies, including Extreme Networks, where he played an important role in the company's return to profitability and led Extreme's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program; Handspring, Inc., where he helped negotiate that company's successful merger with Palm Computing; Tropos Networks (acquired by ABB), makers of wireless communication systems for networking mission-critical, outdoor industrial applications;LiveOps Inc., the global leader in cloud contact center and customer service solutions; and SnapTrack,which invented an early GPS-based location technology for cellphones. Bill also held senior finance and investor relations positions at 3 Com and Apple. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Grid Modernization Markets
Michael Anderson joined Echelon from Telcordia Technologies, where he was President of the Next Generation Software division, responsible for vision and strategy as well as the sales, alliances, go-to-market, and product development teams. Michael has also held senior executive roles at a variety of high-growth and established telecommunications and high technology organizations, including ADC Telecommunications and TeliSmart. He began his career at AT&T. Recently noted as one of the Global Telecom Business top 100 industry executives, Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science at the University of Washington and completed a fellowship at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Senior Vice President, Operations
Russell Harris began his career at Convergent Technologies, Inc./Unisys Corporation as an industrial engineer, then moved into management positions and became director of IT for Worldwide Operations at Unisys. From 1991 to 1996, he was director of operations at Silicon Graphics, Inc., managing inventory and logistics, IT operations for services worldwide, and training. In 1996, Russell joined four others and started NetDynamics, where he served as vice president of operations and worked through its sale and integration into Sun Microsystems Inc. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Stanford University.
General Counsel, Senior Vice President and Secretary to the Board
Alicia Moore brings extensive experience serving as inside and outside General Counsel at public and private technology companies across a variety of industries. Before Echelon, she provided independent strategic legal advice to a number of clients. Prior to that, Alicia served as Vice President of Business Development, General Counsel & Secretary for Extreme Networks. She has also held the VP General Counsel roles at AristaSoft Corporation and Adaptec, Inc., and she has served on the Board of Directors for Women's Capital Corporation. Alicia holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law.
Chief Marketing Officer
Wendy Toth brings more than 24 years of corporate and product marketing experience to Echelon. The former Chief Marketing Officer of Global IP Solutions (GIPS), Wendy was instrumental in building GIPS to the recognized global leader in embedded Voice over IP technology (acquired by Google). Before joining Echelon, she built her own marketing consulting practice, specializing in private public and hybrid cloud technology, working with many of Silicon Valley's leading technology companies. Her accomplishments included developing and launching Cisco's Public Cloud Adoption software and professional services portfolio; launching support of VMware's vCloud Hybrid Service IaaS offering; and developing Jabil's business plan for a new Cloud Architecture business unit. Prior to GIPS, Wendy was the General Manager of Web Services for Knight Ridder (acquired by McClatchy), where she was responsible for building and launching a centralized ecommerce platform for all 29 Knight Ridder properties. Early in her career, she worked within marketing agencies where she eventually held the position of Vice President, Group Account Director. Wendy received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota and completed MBA coursework at the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota).
Chief Technology Officer
Sohrab Modi, Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for leading Echelon’s Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technical strategy. An experienced technical executive, Sohrab held Vice President and CTO roles at both Sun Microsystems and Huawei. At FutureWei, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Huawei, he led technical strategy and planning for Internet of Things/machine-to-machine (IoT/M2M), cloud, big data, software-defined networking (SDN), and other initiatives. At Sun, he explored new business and technology opportunities for the company and was VP and General Manager for N1 systems, an early cloud computing offering. Before Sun, Sohrab was an engineering manager at Novell, building and driving numerous networking projects. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Mumbai and a master’s degree in computer science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
