OneSource to Promote LonWorks® Networks as Cost- and Energy-Saving Solution for Commercial Buildings(Sunnyvale, CA - December 7, 2000) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) and OneSource, a Carlisle Holdings Limited company (NASDAQ: CLHL), announced today that OneSource will be promoting open, LonWorks based systems as value-added solutions for commercial buildings. The first of these buildings, the Calexico Port of Entry in Southern California, has been completed and will serve as a model for future GSA (General Services Administration) projects for OneSource. OneSource will promote open systems using Echelon's LonWorks technology as the solution of choice for its clients who will be facing the need to upgrade their facilities and achieve their energy savings goals over the next few years. OneSource is a leading facility services provider of operations and maintenance, janitorial, landscape and specialty services in the United States. The Government Services division of OneSource provides on-site engineering services, installation and maintenance to existing building automation systems. "OneSource has embraced LonWorks networks as the best way to upgrade such building automation systems," said Edward Neilan, vice president of OneSource. "An open, interoperable LonWorks based system provides OneSource with a solution that puts us far ahead of the competition. The flexibility of the technology is of immeasurable value to our clients; not only can they enjoy the immediate benefits of an extremely reliable, top-notch system, but the network can be easily expanded and upgraded to meet their future needs. By combining this technology with our performance contracting capabilities, OneSource can deliver totally integrated facility services, seamlessly and efficiently." "It is tremendously important to Echelon that OneSource has chosen to embrace LonWorks technology," stated Bea Yormark, Echelon's vice president of sales and marketing. "OneSource is a major force in facility management with many Fortune 500 customers. This alliance will make Echelon's technology become ever more pervasive in our everyday lives. The alliance with OneSource is a further testament to the fact that LonWorks offers the very best solution for providing cost effective, flexible and scalable systems." Universal Integrated Technologies Inc. (UITi), an Echelon Authorized Network Integrator, designed the building automation system in the Calexico Border Patrol Station and is working closely with OneSource on future LonWorks based projects. Jim Leaper, UITi's COO, said, "The fact that Echelon provides such a complete networking solution made this job very easy for us. Echelon's LonPoint' system provided the building blocks for the system. The LonMaker integration tool and OSS 2000 software supply systems integration and Internet based monitoring and control capabilities. Since the technology is completely open, we were able to use products from multiple manufacturers to create truly intelligent buildings using the best integrated solutions possible. We look forward to helping other companies benefit from these technologies in the future." On a future phase of the GSA project, OneSource and UITI will use Echelon's i.LON 1000 Internet Server to integrate several remote buildings into one control network for central and remote monitoring and access. This will allow a single operator to view alarms, change set points, and schedule maintenance from any computer or Web-enabled device.
