Echelon Corporation Adds Mike Lehman, Former Sun Microsystems CFO, to Board of Directors

(SAN JOSE, CA - November 25, 2002) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON), the creator of the LonWorks® device networking platform and worldwide leader in networking everyday devices to each other and the Internet, today announced the appointment of Michael E. Lehman to its Board of Directors.

"His wealth of management experience in networked computing and fast-paced, high technology markets combined with his strong and highly respected financial background will make Echelon's already outstanding Board of Directors even better."

Mr. Lehman is a former Executive Vice President, Corporate Resources and Chief Financial Officer of Sun Microsystems, Inc. Mr. Lehman served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Resources and Chief Financial Officer of Sun from July 2000 until his resignation from his employment position with Sun in September 2002. While at Sun, he held the position of Vice President, Corporate Resources and CFO from January 1998 to July 2000, and served as Sun’s Vice President and CFO from February 1994 to January 1998. Mr. Lehman held various positions in Sun’s finance organization from August 1987 to February 1994. Mr. Lehman is also a director of MGIC Investment Corporation, Mercator Software, Inc., NetIQ Corporation and Sun Microsystems.
