Anders Axelsson Joins Echelon as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing(San Jose, CA– May 27, 2003) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON), the creator of the LonWorks® device networking platform for connecting everyday devices to each other and the Internet, announced today that Anders B. Axelsson has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Anders brings a unique depth and breadth of experience to Echelon having spent his career in leadership and strategic roles in sales, marketing and engineering within the automation and software industries," said Bea Yormark, Echelon's president and COO. "His insight into our business from a customer viewpoint and understanding of the end-user market for the LonWorks platform should be very insightful and beneficial." Two of Mr. Axelsson's previous companies, ABB and Honeywell, are customers of Echelon. Mr. Axelsson, most recently CEO of PowerFile, a private optical storage company, started his career with ABB Industry where he worked for 11 years serving in several sales, marketing and engineering management positions. He was an integral part of growing what is today a multi-billion dollar division of ABB. After ABB he joined Measurex (later acquired by Honeywell) and served in many senior position including vice president of marketing and vice president of business area operations. During his 7-year tenure with Honeywell-Measurex he also served as president/managing director for the $200M European organization. After Honeywell he joined Snap Appliances (a subsidiary of Quantum Corporation) as president and general manager, growing the business from a run rate of $5M to $75M in two years and establishing a leadership position in workgroup network attached storage. Anders holds a holds a Bachelor of Science degree from ED Technical Institute in Jonkoping, Sweden and is a graduate from the Executive Program at the University of Michigan.
