Echelon to Host Worldwide Developers Conference(San Jose, CA - November 14, 2007) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON), the leading technology supplier for the widely-used LonWorks® control networking standard, today announced it will host a Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, California on May 14–16, 2008. The Worldwide Developers Conference attracts hardware and software developers and system integrators from around the world deploying the LonWorks platform in a variety of industries including building automation, consumer electronics, industrial control, street lighting, restaurant cooking equipment, and transportation systems. The announcement was made today at the 2007 LonWorld® Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the world's largest event devoted to the LonWorks control networking platform. "Echelon has a very large developer community that thrives on using leading edge technology for their designs. This is a dynamic forum that brings the LonWorks developer community together to share knowledge about the technology with their peers and to meet with the Echelon engineers behind the technology," said Anders Axelsson, Echelon's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "It is the best format for sharing tips and techniques for professional learning, inspiration, networking and fun." Echelon's developers conference will provide new and experienced LonWorks developers with in-depth technical information about Echelon's latest technology advancements, including the recently announced i.LON® SmartServer and the new FTXL high-speed transceiver for use with the Altera Cyclone II/III field programmable gate array (see separate release). "As engineers, we hardly ever get to meet our end users," said Hubbell Building Automation developer Stuart Middleton-White. "This is a great event to finally meet and talk with the folks that actually use our products." In addition to fostering an environment for learning and exchanging ideas, the Developers Conference underscores the value of Echelon's technology. "It's really difficult to create an enduring protocol and technology," said Middleton-White. "IP is one example. LonWorks is another."
