Echelon Joins California Lighting Technology Center
Affiliate Membership to Help Bring Smart, Control Networks to New Lighting Technologies
(San Jose, CA - April 27, 2009) - Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) announced today that it has become an affiliate member of the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC). As an affiliate member, Echelon is working with research and education leaders at the University of California, Davis and other academic institutions, leading manufacturers of lighting products, and state and national agencies to bring highly energy efficient lighting systems equipped with smart control networking technology to market. Initial work with CLTC involves member companies Beta-LED™, Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PGE), Southern California Edison (SCE) and San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDGE) to develop and demonstrate a network-enabled smart LED streetlight system.

The affiliate program at CLTC connects education, research, and industry to share information regarding energy efficient lighting products and practices. Innovative technology developments and partnerships created through this program aim to increase the availability and quality of energy efficient lighting products on the market.
