Bellagio Hotel to Cut a Million Dollars from Famous Fountain Annual Repairs
The lake’s complex water feature required a control system with numerous repeaters and routers. The open LonWorks® network ensured that we would be able to easily integrate components from various manufacturers.
— Robert Harvey, President, White Rabbit Company
Participants
- End user: The Bellagio Resort Hotel in Las Vegas features a $40 million, 900-foot-long fountain complex with 1,175 water-jet heads and 6,200 light fixtures and speaker clusters.
- Integrator: The White Rabbit Company, Inc. designed a control network that includes a 1.25-megabit fiber optic ring that encircles the lake and connects equipment vaults and the on-shore control room.
Challenge
- Secure more control over water jets while minimizing costs and ensuring a safe environment
- Assure uninterrupted operation with monitoring of all mechanical and electronic elements
Solution
The LonWorks®-based system monitors and controls voltage, current, temperature, and water sensors for the hotel's intricately staged water fountain productions.
- Echelon free-topology twisted-pair transceivers in 213 Oarsman jets
- Software for the controller and variable-speed pump is downloaded over the control network
Benefits
