This family of standard modular transceivers (SMX) shares a common footprint and interface specification so you can interchange them without modifying their circuit board. This design lets you easily install or replace twisted-pair and power line transceivers for different channels in a variety of Echelon development tools and OEM products.
The SMX standard is well-documented and open. Many third-party manufacturers produce fiber-optic and radio-frequency SMX transceivers that complement our twisted-pair and power line SMX transceivers.
