Neuron 5000 Microprocessor

With the introduction of LonWorks 2.0, Echelon entered the dedicated LonWorks microprocessor market in the form of the Neuron 5000. Compared to previous designs, the Neuron 5000 is up to 16 times faster and as much as half the cost of other Neuron solutions.

Twisted Pair Signaling Technology

Twisted pair smart transceivers are available in both LonWorks and LonWorks 2.0 versions. The former includes the Neuron processing core while the latter the Neuron 5000 processing core. Both represent cost optimized solutions for their time although most manufacturers are migrating to the new FT 5000 smart transceiver to get lower cost, simpler design, and higher performance.

LonWorks 2.0 smart transceivers — the next generation in smart networks — are fully compatible with existing LonWorks products, yet offer higher speed processing, improved overall performance, lower node costs, and higher capabilities.

Power Line Signaling Technology

The only "no new wires" approach to networks, offering high reliability, flexible deployment, and cost-free installation. Our power line smart transceivers, based on worldwide standards (ISO/IEC, ANSI) combine the applications- and communications-processing of a Neuron core with power line signaling in a single, low-cost chip. All versions of our power line transceivers are smart transceivers.
