Pyxos Machines

The Pyxos platform is ideal for networking the many components inside machines. For example, vending machines may contain servos, refrigeration units, lighting, coin dispensers, and other sensors and actuators. These machines have complex wiring, with usually one pair of wires for each sensor or actuator. More components means more wires, which can lead to problems such as:

• Decreased flexibility. The channels in the machine, which accommodate wiring harnesses, become less flexible with each pair of wires (thus requiring even more space).
• Increased repair costs. Service calls caused by bad wiring connections, wiring harness failures, empty inventory slots, and more may cause you to lose money.

A Pyxos network solves these issues: Wiring can be matched to the layout of the machine—bus, ring, star, or any other topology. Fewer wires eliminates the need for a wiring harness, and reduces most instances of bad wiring. Self-organization makes assembly more flexible, minimizing machine set-up time. The Pyxos Pilot communicates directly with the LonWorks building network to tell you when inventory is low, the cooling mechanism has malfunctioned, or coins are stuck, improving margins and profits.
