Pyxos FT EVK Evaluation Kit

The Pyxos FT EVK Evaluation Kit is the only development tool you need to develop Pyxos FT based applications. It provides a set of hardware and software tools for evaluating the Pyxos platform and for developing applications and devices that use Pyxos FT technology.

The Pyxos FT EVK includes four evaluation boards: one that demonstrates the Pyxos FT chip acting as a Pyxos Pilot, and three that demonstrate the Pyxos FT chip acting as a Pyxos Point:

• EV-Pilot. Controls the Pyxos network, communicates with all the Pyxos Points, and communicates with the nodes on LonWorks networks.
• EV-Sensor Point. A hosted Pyxos Point that controls the temperature, light level, and DC voltage sensors on the board.
• EV-Actuator Point. A hosted Pyxos Point that controls digital and analog output for the Pyxos FT network example application.
• EV-Nano Point. A Pyxos Point without a host microcontroller.

Example Application

The evaluation boards come loaded with an example application to demonstrate the following features of the Pyxos FT networking platform:

• Link power at 24 VAC. The Pyxos FT network provides power to each of the EV Points as well as communications between the EV Points and the EV Pilot.
• LonWorks connectivity. You can connect the EV Pilot to a LonWorks network to connect multiple Pyxos FT networks or to share Pyxos data with a LonWorks network.
• Flexible topology communication. You can configure a Pyxos FT network as a bus or as a free-topology network.
• Deterministic response time. The Pyxos FT network provides predictable communications response times.

Developing New Applications and Devices

Developing applications for the Pyxos FT platform is similar to developing applications for other embedded program environments. The Pyxos FT EVK comes with support tools for the Pyxos FT platform, including the source code for:

• The example application
• The Pyxos FT Pilot API
• The Pyxos FT Point API
• The Pyxos FT Serial Driver

You'll also need a set of development tools specific to your host processor; the Pyxos FT EVK doesn't provide this.

The Pyxos FT EVK hardware and examples use the following host processors:

• Atmel ARM AT91SAM7S64 (EV-Pilot and EV-Actuator Point boards)
• Atmel AVR ATtiny13 (EV-Sensor Point board)
