Model 96100 Pre-Production Design Review

If we recommend modifications, we'll re-review the device at no extra charge once we receive your final PCB. If the re-submitted device includes an Echelon Power Line Smart Transceiver—and the device works—we may also conduct a communication performance test as part of the re-review.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Submit a purchase order to your local sales representative.

2. Submit the following documents, either as an e-mail with attachments or on a CD:

• Schematic diagrams in PDF format
• Gerber files of the PCB(s) including all layers
• A detailed bill of material including all required component specifications, vendor names and part numbers
•  Provide fill-in following information with your submittals:
• 1. Reference design used:__________________________________________
• Use the name of the ZIP archive file containing the reference design document
• (for example – PL_3120_DSK_2L1S_TX1_1_R)
• 2. Coupling circuit used is Example number: __________________________
• 3. Type of VA power supply: ______________________________________
• (From Table 5.4 or if some other type is used provide a text description)

Supplying the following additional documentation is also recommended in order to expedite the design review process:

 The specifications of individual components are checked as part of the design review process. Provide soft copy of the data sheets for any components that are different from the recommended components in the reference designs files. Bill of Material with a column added listing the original reference designations if they differ from the designations in the DSK and data book.

Please provide any additional notes that provide more detail information relevant to the design. This may include explanations of parts of the design not included in the documentation, or aspects of the design that may be obscure.

All documents must be submitted simultaneously. Unfortunately, we cannot accept paper submissions, or submissions in a language other than English.

Timeframe

Design reviews typically take 3 to 4 weeks after we receive your submission. All reviews are held in strictest confidence and are conducted at Echelon's headquarters in San Jose, CA.

Design reviews expire one year after purchase.

The Fine Print

Design review services are based on Echelon's preliminary review of the customer assembly under examination, and are not intended to represent a thorough engineering analysis of the design. The customer is responsible for thoroughly reviewing the assembly using the latest revision of the pertinent user guides and manuals for all parts, including, but not limited to, the Smart Transceiver. No claim is made regarding the suitability of the assembly under test with regard to a particular application, regulatory compliance, or safety agency compliance. Echelon specifically reserves the right to decline to provide design review and support services where such services would require disclosure of Echelon proprietary information or where such support may be detrimental to Echelon's business interests. Products which essentially duplicate the functionality of Echelon's products, and are deemed by Echelon to be competitive products, are ineligible for design reviews. Echelon makes no warranty for such services, including but not limited to, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Echelon does not guarantee that all problems will be solved or that any response will be error-free.

Pre-Production Design Review Policy
ECHELON'S LIABILITY FOR SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEE PAID FOR THE SERVICES GIVING RISE TO SUCH LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT WILL ECHELON BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, COST OF COVER OR OTHER SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR INDIRECT DAMAGES ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF SUCH SERVICES, HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY.

Echelon hardware products eligible for Pre-Production Design Reviews include:
PLT*, TPT, FTT*, LPT*, FT 31xx Smart Transceivers*, PL 31xx Smart Transceivers*, TP control modules, RTR router, LTS serial adapter, and NSS network managers.

* PLT-22, FT 31xx, PL 31xx, and FTT submissions must include a completed checklist from the pertinent User's Guide with all boxes checked affirmatively.
