Billions of non-consumer devices are connected today in industrial control networks, everything from elevators and HVAC systems, to factory automation and irrigation systems. Their operation generates vast amounts of data that is largely used within and sequestered to their individual operational technology (OT) control networks.

What if that data could be easily accessed and mined by AI engines in the cloud, looking for ways to optimize performance and anticipate and prevent problems before they become expensive to fix?

The challenge: most of these OT networks use industrial device protocols that don't communicate with IT networks where AI lives. The IoT Access Protocol(TM) (IAP), bridges the divide between OT and IT networks.

Key takeaway

A new protocol, IAP, makes it possible to easily access data from existing networks of industrial control devices.
